🤍 When Plans Change and God Meets Us in the Pause

Yesterday was supposed to be a day with my mom. We had planned for me to come over and help her with a lime green and navy blue deco mesh wreath. We had picked out flowers last Thursday at Hobby Lobby. She was looking forward to it, and honestly, so was I.

But by Sunday night, my throat was sore. By Monday morning, I felt awful with a headache, sore throat, runny nose, stuffed up. I knew I couldn’t go.

So I let her know I wasn’t feeling well and wouldn’t be able to come.

It was such a small moment, but it carried that familiar ache: the disappointment of wanting to show up for someone you love, but not being able to. The frustration of plans changing. The heaviness of feeling unwell.

And in that quiet space, God whispered something to my heart: “Even this is part of the path.”

🌿 The unexpected pause

Life doesn’t always move the way we expect. Sometimes God slows us down without asking our permission. Sometimes He places a pause where we planned activity. Sometimes He gives rest when we were ready to give help.

It doesn’t feel spiritual. It doesn’t feel productive. It doesn’t feel meaningful.

But it is.

🌿 God in the stillness

Scripture says, “He makes me lie down in green pastures…” (Psalm 23:2).

Not asks.
Not suggests.
Not invites.
But it was what I needed.

He makes me lie down.

Sometimes rest is not something we choose; it’s something God chooses for us.

Yesterday, lying down wasn’t what I wanted.

And God was there in the quiet:

  • in the soft blanket; His warm embrace

  • in the stillness of the house; His quiet healing

  • in the gentle reminder that my worth isn’t measured by productivity

  • in the truth that love isn’t canceled just because plans are

🌿 A gentle reminder

Your path with God includes the days you feel strong and the days you feel sick. The days you show up and the days you have to stay home. The days full of activity and the days full of rest.

He is present in all of them.

🌿 Today’s quiet encouragement

If your plans change… If your body slows you down… If you feel disappointed or frustrated…

Let God meet you in the pause.

He is not only in the moments you planned; He is in the ones you didn’t.
